Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring a WV or compact license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details
  • Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting, treating a combined adult/pediatric patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 07:00-19:00
  • Weekday schedule with every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No call, charge, or float responsibilities
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Facility may consider blocked schedule requests submitted at time of profile submittal
Requirements
  • Active WV RN license or compact license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
  • 5+ years of ED experience and small ED background preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers will not be considered
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV starts, triage, and emergency triage/care (ETC)
  • Skilled in pediatric and adult emergency care including abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, hyperglycemia, infection, mental/behavioral health conditions, poison ingestion, respiratory infection, seizures, skin disorders, and UTI management
  • Skilled in psychiatric emergency care including acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients
  • Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy including central line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and intubation
  • Skilled in administering emergency medications, IV vasopressors, IV insulin protocols, and procedural sedation
  • Skilled in neurological emergency care including CVA and neuro-trauma management
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
  • Skilled in orthopedic splinting and ortho trauma care
  • Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of adult and pediatric conditions in a general combined ED setting
  • May work in a STEMI and/or Stroke certified facility
  • May manage shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Burgundy scrub color required
  • Must be able to identify and report neglect or abuse
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
