Registered Nurse
This position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiac Telemetry and Stepdown care. The unit consists of 36 beds. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:5 for Med Surg/Tele patients and 1:4 for PCU patients. Travelers must have experience with high-acuity cardiac patients. Common diagnoses include cardiac issues, post-catheterization care, respiratory failure, and post-operative lung surgeries. The role involves titration of various drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, and others.
Charge nurses are available 24/7, and daytime charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Certified Nursing Assistants are available, ideally with a ratio of 1 CNA for every 6-7 patients. Respiratory Therapy equipment such as CPAP and BiPap is available, managed by RT staff. The unit uses Phillips monitors, and nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Travelers are required to work every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday. Holiday shifts are included in the staff rotation. Travelers may float to other units as necessary, with ratios capped to ensure safe patient care. Royal blue scrubs are the designated uniform color for RNs. The unit has a high level of acuity and is seeking experienced travelers who are adaptable and skilled.
