American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med Surg/Oncology unit requiring 2 years of experience and an active WV or compact RN license.
Details- Acute care Med Surg/Oncology/Tele unit (6S) within a Level II trauma facility
- 36-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
- Cares for general Med Surg patients, post-op cases (lap chole, lap appy), and oncology patients with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
- Perm staff administer chemotherapy; frequent chest tube management including PleurX chest tubes for oncology patients
- Occasional psychiatric patients requiring 1:1 sitter coverage
- Titrates Heparin drips only; no cardiac drips administered
- Telemetry monitoring on Phillips monitors with a central monitor tech, though RNs must read and interpret strips
- 24/7 charge nurse coverage; charge nurse does not take patient assignments on days but does on nights
- 3 CNAs staffed per shift on both days and nights
- CPAP and BiPap only, with RT managing all respiratory equipment
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a
- 36 hours per week over a 16-week assignment
- Every-other-weekend requirement, Saturday/Sunday for both day and night shifts
- Holiday coverage required as part of the perm staff rotation schedule
- Floats to any Med Surg/Tele unit as needed
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification is a plus
- Experience with PleurX chest tubes is highly preferred
- No false nails permitted
- Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible for travel assignment
- Returning travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers are limited to one year of cumulative work within the WVU Medicine system before requiring a 2-year break
- EKG testing may be required as part of the hiring process for this facility
