American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg-Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring an active WV or compact RN license and at least 2 years of acute care experience.
Details- 36-bed Post-Op/Oncology/Tele unit in an acute care, Trauma Level 2 hospital
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:5-6
- Patient population includes general Med/Surg, post-op cases (lap chole, lap appy), and oncology patients with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, or infections
- Permanent staff administer chemotherapy; frequent chest tube management including PleurX catheters for oncology patients
- Occasional psychiatric patients requiring 1:1 sitter supervision
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every-other-weekend rotation (Sat/Sun)
- Required to work holidays as part of the standard rotation with perm staff
- Floats to any Med/Surg or Tele unit as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Titrates Heparin drips only; no cardiac drips administered
- Phillips telemetry monitors used; RNs must independently read and interpret strips despite central monitor tech support
- 24/7 charge nurse coverage, with night shift charge nurse taking a patient assignment
- 3 CNAs staffed on both day and night shifts
- Active RN license (WV or Compact) required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Acute care hospital experience required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification is a plus
- Experience with PleurX chest tubes is highly desirable
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration
- Provide direct patient care including chest tube management and monitoring of oncology and post-surgical patients
- Royal blue scrubs required; false nails are not permitted
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
- Returning travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
