American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool position requiring ACLS certification and the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
Details- Float pool RN role covering Med Surg/Tele units in an acute care, Trauma Level 2 hospital setting
- Floats primarily to 6N (36 beds) and 7N (29 beds), with additional coverage to 4N, 5S, 6S, and Critical Care
- Nurse-to-patient ratios generally 1:5-6, occasionally up to 1:7 depending on acuity
- Common patient diagnoses include CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology
- Uses Philips telemetry monitors; RNs must read and interpret strips though most units have monitor techs
- CPAP and BiPap equipment present on units, managed by Respiratory Therapy
- 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a
- Every-other-weekend requirement, Sat/Sun for both day and night shifts
- Holiday coverage required as part of the standard staff rotation schedule
- Reports to the clinical coordinator's office prior to shift start for unit assignment
- Will be assigned a 'parent unit' and only basic telemetry patients within scope of practice
- Not required to titrate drips
- EPIC EMR used
- 36 guaranteed hours per week over a 17-week assignment
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam prior to starting
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration
- Provide direct patient care across multiple med/surg and telemetry units based on daily float assignments
- Charge nurse available on every unit; night charge takes patient assignments while day charge does not
- CNAs support all units
- 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor provided
- Royal blue scrubs required for RNs
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
- First-time travelers may be considered pending successful completion of the cardiac rhythm exam
