Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care for oncology and post-operative patients in a unit with 36 beds, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, and complex diagnostic support. Ensure patient safety, administer treatments, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver quality care.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care to general medical-surgical, oncology, and post-op patients, including patients with complications such as infections and neutropenic precautions.
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and manage chest tubes, PleurX systems, and other complex drainage devices.
- Titrate Heparin drips and monitor telemetry, interpreting strip data accurately.
- Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists to ensure smooth unit operations and optimal patient outcomes.
- Follow safety protocols for hazardous patients, including those requiring isolation or specialized precautions.
- Document patient care activities thoroughly and comply with hospital policies and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Hold valid RN license and current state-specific licensure.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS certification preferred.
- Experience in oncology nursing, chemotherapy administration, and post-op care.
- Skilled in telemetry interpretation and management of titratable drips.
- Knowledge of chemo/bio therapy certification (ONS/ONCC) is a plus.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to unit-specific policies, including holiday and weekend rotations.
