Advantage Technology is hiring a Structured Cabling Technician I for our Bridgeport, West Virginia team.
This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys working with tools, building things correctly, solving practical problems, and seeing the results of their work at the end of the day.
You will work with our cabling, network, engineering, and project teams installing the physical infrastructure behind modern technology environments—including copper cabling, fiber, network racks, patch panels, wireless infrastructure, cameras, telecommunications systems, and other low-voltage technology.
This is not a remote position and it is not a help-desk job. Most of your work will take place at commercial, education, government, and other customer locations throughout North Central West Virginia.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Structured Cabling Technician I works as part of our field installation team performing commercial low-voltage and structured cabling projects.
This can be an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who already has basic cabling, construction, electrical, telecommunications, or technical experience and wants to develop into a professional structured-cabling technician.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, productive, mechanically capable, willing to learn, and takes pride in clean work .
Technical experience is important, but so are attitude, work ethic, professionalism, and reliability.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Install, route, secure, label, terminate, and test Category 5e, Category 6, Category 6A, and fiber-optic cabling.
Pull cable through ceilings, walls, conduit, J-hooks, cable trays, and other commercial pathways.
Terminate copper cabling into jacks, patch panels, and related equipment.
Assist with fiber installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting based on experience.
Install and organize network racks, cabinets, patch panels, cable management, pathways, and related infrastructure.
Assist with installation of wireless access points, cameras, telecommunications equipment, and other low-voltage systems.
Use cable testing and certification equipment to verify installed cabling.
Properly label cables, racks, patch panels, outlets, and related equipment.
Read basic floor plans, cable schedules, drawings, and project instructions.
Follow project plans and direction provided by lead technicians, engineers, project managers, and supervisors.
Identify installation problems and communicate them quickly rather than allowing problems to delay the project.
Maintain accurate records of completed work, testing results, materials, and project progress.
Keep customer sites, work areas, company vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
Follow applicable TIA/EIA, BICSI, manufacturer, customer, and safety standards.
Travel to customer and project locations throughout North Central West Virginia and occasionally other Advantage service areas as required.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are more interested in finding the right person with mechanical ability, work ethic, and willingness to learn than someone who checks every technical box.
Successful candidates should have:
High school diploma or GED.
Basic knowledge of structured cabling, telecommunications, networking, electrical work, construction, or another related trade.
