Mid Backend Software Developer

Who you are

Seeking Mid‑Level Software Developers to provide remote support for a federal customer. This role requires a Secret Security Clearance and will be fully remote.

On‑Call Expectations
  • Acknowledge on‑call contacts (phone, text, or email) within 15 minutes
  • Remain within reasonable access to your secure work laptop while on call
  • Log in and begin assessing or troubleshooting requests within 60 minutes of notification

The rotation is one week out of every four to support system reliability and continuity.

What you will do
  • Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
  • Design, build, and maintain microservices in a cloud‑native architecture.
  • Operate and support an enterprise‑scale production system; identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues.
  • Analyze user needs to develop robust software solutions aligned with business and mission goals.
  • Analyze, design, and optimize relational and No

  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and mentor junior developers.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Dev Ops, QA, Security, Product, and Architecture.
High‑level objectives
  • Migrate all current‑system functionality from mainframes to AWS Gov Cloud.
  • Transition investigative search capabilities to Elasticsearch or similar technologies.
  • Build new microservices using Open Shift based container platforms.
  • Implement full‑stack components where applicable, supporting UI integration layers using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Support integration with event‑driven architectures and high‑throughput data processing systems.
What you bring – Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience or Associate’s degree with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Active Tier 3 Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Strong proficiency in Object‑Oriented Programming, Java, and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, and cloud‑native applications.
  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Helm charts, and container orchestration in Open Shift or similar platforms.
  • Experience designing, developing, and operating solutions in AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience with Apache Kafka for event‑driven architectures and enterprise message brokers (IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ).
  • Experience with observability tooling including distributed tracing, structured logging, and metrics collection (Open Telemetry, Kibana, ELK stack).
  • Experience operating within Git Ops practices (Git Lab, Git Hub, Bitbucket, ArgoCD, etc.).
  • Experience working within Agile frameworks, including participation in Scrum/SAFe ceremonies.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation including API docs, architectural decisions, and implementation notes.

  • Experience with artifact repository managers (Artifactory, Nexus, or similar) for dependency and container image management.
