Position Summary

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides comprehensive mental health care and support to the inmate/patient population within a correctional facility. The LCSW assesses, plans, and delivers individualized treatment services while collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure the safety, well‑being, and rehabilitation of inmates/patients.

Qualifications Education & Licensure
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LSW, LPC, or equivalent in the state where services are provided.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Services
  • Conduct mental health intakes, assessments, and crisis interventions.
  • Provide individual and group counseling tailored to inmate/patient needs.
  • Analyze psychosocial and behavioral factors to inform treatment planning.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, treatment documentation, and discharge summaries.
Treatment Team Collaboration
  • Actively participate as a member of the treatment team to coordinate care and implement interventions.
  • Provide observational feedback and professional insights to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Refer inmates/patients to appropriate external resources and services upon release.
Program & Environment Management
  • Facilitate therapeutic group sessions addressing identified treatment issues.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for all inmates/patients.
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, ethical standards, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the facility and behavioral health program.

  • Strong clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Knowledge of correctional mental health practices and trauma‑informed care.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to work in a secure correctional environment, adhering to safety and security protocols.
  • May require standing, walking, and occasional lifting or assisting patients.
  • Must respond appropriately in high‑stress or emergency situations.

  • Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
  • Adheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities.
  • Completes required orientation as directed by the facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
  • Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations.
  • Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts.
  • Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
