The Security Engineer will play a key role in implementing security projects, strengthening perimeter defenses, and supporting ongoing operational security. This role partners closely with the SOC on remediation activities and ensures effective handoff of new security solutions from project stage into steady-state operations. The Security Engineer will also provide guidance to L1 analysts and contribute to vulnerability assessment and risk reduction efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Implement, configure, and maintain perimeter security controls, including firewalls and network security platforms (e.g., Palo Alto).
- Lead and support remediation efforts for security incidents, vulnerabilities, and control gaps.
- Partner with SOC analysts to investigate alerts, support incident response workflows, and drive follow-through to remediation.
- Harden endpoint, network, and cloud environments in alignment with security standards and industry best practices.
- Act as a bridge between security project teams and operations to ensure smooth transition, documentation, and sustainment of new capabilities.
- Mentor and support L1 analysts in security triage, escalation handling, and developing response procedures.
- Contribute to vulnerability management processes, including risk evaluation, prioritization, and coordination of remediation actions.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to operationalize improvements and maintain a resilient security posture.
- Hands-on experience with security project implementation and ongoing operational support.
- Proven experience in SOC collaboration and remediation (blue team response workflows).
- Direct experience with perimeter security and firewall configuration (preferably Palo Alto).
- Ability to support and mentor junior analysts in escalation and incident handling processes.
- Working knowledge of vulnerability management and risk assessment practices.
- Hybrid work availability within reasonable driving distance.
- Familiarity with endpoint detection and response solutions (e.g., Microsoft Defender).
- Experience with vulnerability scoring, prioritization frameworks, or risk-based remediation approaches.
Experience coordinating between SOC and core infrastructure teams. - Exposure to Proofpoint, Big Fix, and/or Tenable platforms.
- 3+ years in security engineering, SOC/IR, or related technical security functions preferred.
- Relevant security certifications (Security+, CySA+, GSEC, PCNSE, etc.) are beneficial.
