StaffHCM is looking for a Capsule Production Supervisor in New Jersey.
As a Capsule Production Supervisor, you will oversee daily capsule manufacturing operations, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and inventory needs are met. This role is responsible for supervising production personnel, coordinating production schedules, maintaining equipment performance, and driving continuous improvement across the capsule production process.
Key Responsibilities Production Operations Management- Manage shift leads and machine operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
- Schedule production runs to maximize machine uptime and minimize downtime.
- Maintain production schedules and ensure completion of all scheduled manufacturing activities.
- Monitor machine performance, output levels, and production quotas.
- Ensure all film and capsule quality control checks are completed accurately and consistently.
- Maintain quality and quantity standards for finished capsule products.
- Review raw materials during receiving processes to verify quality and quantity requirements.
- Complete production documentation and maintain accurate operational records.
- Monitor production equipment and operators to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Ensure preventative maintenance and routine maintenance procedures are completed.
- Verify safety checks are performed regularly by machine operators.
- Troubleshoot machinery and production issues to minimize interruptions.
- Coordinate ordering, usage, and inventory of raw materials.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels to support production schedules.
- Ensure materials and supplies are available for uninterrupted operations.
- Assist with inventory tracking and material utilization.
- Oversee training and development of Capsule Production and Printer/Slitter Room personnel.
- Ensure employees are properly trained to operate and maintain machinery safely and effectively.
- Lead shift meetings and conduct regular meetings with shift leads.
- Foster a team-oriented environment focused on accountability, safety, quality, and productivity.
- Follow established procedures while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Provide weekly updates regarding production progress, challenges, and open issues.
- Prepare and maintain private-label artwork requirements and production schedules.
- Assist with European transfer requirements and specialized customer specifications.
- Experience:
3-5+ years of manufacturing, production supervision, or industrial operations experience. - Experience supervising machine operators and production personnel.
- Experience in production scheduling and manufacturing operations.
- Experience monitoring production metrics, quality standards, and operational performance.
- Technical
Skills: - Strong computer proficiency including Excel, Word, and production management software.
- Ability to work with HMI touch screen control stations and manufacturing equipment.
- Understanding of production documentation and reporting processes.
- Mechanical Aptitude:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with manufacturing equipment and machinery.
- Ability to identify operational issues and coordinate resolutions.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Experience with quality control processes and manufacturing compliance requirements.
- Leadership:
- Ability to train, coach, and develop production employees.
- Strong organizational and team management abilities.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production teams and leadership.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in capsule manufacturing, packaging, food production, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or similar industries.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management and production planning systems.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of metric measurement conversions and production-related mathematical formulas.
