Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for the Southwoods State Prison, located in Bridgeton, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols.
Functions as a team leader as assigned. Demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the physical health of adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) all population groups and their personal strengths. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmate patient including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) and their family within the framework established by the correctional system.
- Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
- Attends appropriate in-services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills.
- Participates in offering education to inmates, security officers and other members of the health care team.
- Participates in in-service meetings and educational programs either as attendee or as a teacher, as arranged and approved by supervisor.

Salary Details- Minimum Salary: 37,230
- Mid Range Salary: 46,540
- Maximum Salary: 54,050
