Overview

University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to providing physical, mental, dental, and sex offender treatment services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. UCHC manages a $150 million budget and approximately 1,000 staff.

Department Nurse Manager

Location:

Southwoods State Prison, Bridgeton, NJ
Type:
Full Time, Onsite – Day shift.

• Assist in interpreting and translating nursing concepts for adult (18–64) and geriatric (65+) inmates.
• Participate in structuring and organizing nursing services.
• Implement nursing functions within the UCHC context.
• Use information systems to retrieve, implement, and retain essential records.
• Direct and supervise nursing and health‑care services.
• Promote cost‑effective resource use and participate in unit budget preparation.
• Assist with orientation and development of staff and nursing students.
• Provide leadership in quality assurance, quality improvement activities, and training for staff and correctional officers.
• Participate in decision‑making for organized nursing services.

• Graduation from a state‑accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible nursing experience.

• Licensed as an RN in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR Certification.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• One (1) year of experience in a specialty area of services.
