OverviewRutgers, University Correctional Health Care is seeking a full‑time Nursing Assistant for Southwoods State Prison, located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to inmates under the direction of a Physician, Physician’s Assistant, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Implements physician/associate practitioner orders within the scope of practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assists with feeding, bathing, and other inmate activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed within the Health Service Unit.
- Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures as needed, including preparing the inmate for examination.
- Assists with cleaning, sterilization, and securing equipment within the Health Service Unit.
- Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Graduate of an approved Certified Nurse Aide program with current certification in New Jersey as a Nursing Assistant.
Certifications/Licenses
- CPR Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License, approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and meeting DOC requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant clinical experience in a correctional or similar environment.
As a first responder, must be capable of performing CPR for at least 10 minutes and physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients that are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
Work ScheduleFull‑time, 40 hours per week.
Daily work shift:
Night.
Position requires a full onsite work arrangement.
Salary and Benefits- Minimum Salary: $21.040 per hour
- Mid Range Salary: $21.540 per hour
- Maximum Salary: $22.190 per hour
