Licensed Practical Nurse FT Days - UCHC SWSP Multiple Vacancies

University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), a unit of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, provides physical, mental health, dental, and sex offender treatment services within New Jersey criminal justice settings. UCHC employs approximately 1,000 staff and serves as a comprehensive health care provider across the state.

Rutgers seeks a full‑time Licensed Practical Nurse (Medical) for Southwoods State Prison located in Bridgeton, NJ. The primary purpose of the role is to skillfully administer total patient care in accordance with nursing standards, under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include direct patient care, treatment and procedure support, and maintenance of a safe therapeutic environment.

• Participate in data collection related to patients’ status and needs.
• Provide input to the Registered Nurse to incorporate information into the plan of care.
• Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the care plan.
• Inform and instruct patients or significant others about health, illness, and the care plan.
• Assist patients or significant others with discharge preparation and home health maintenance.
• Document all aspects of patient care.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure and Certifications

• Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license; possession of own vehicle or alternative transportation to travel between sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting.

As a first responder, the candidate must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and physically lift or rotate patients who cannot ambulate, up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Salary: $33,510;
Mid‑Range Salary: $34,010;
Maximum Salary: $35,030.
