Licensed Practical Nurse FT Nights UCHC SWSP

University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to providing physical, mental health, dental and sex offender treatment services to those involved in the criminal justice system in New Jersey. This role is located at Southwoods State Prison in Bridgeton, NJ. The Licensed Practical Nurse will administer patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, perform treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in data collection related to patient status and needs.
• Provide input to Registered Nurse for incorporation into the plan of care.
• Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.
• Educate patients and their significant others on health/illness status and care plans.
• Assist patients and significant others in discharge planning and home health maintenance.
• Document all aspects of patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
• Minimum 6 months experience in an acute hospital setting (preferred).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Perform CPR for at least 10 minutes.
• Assist in lifting or rotating patients up to 50 pounds.
• Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and adhere to all DOC requirements.
