Legend Biotech is seeking a Sr. Payroll Analyst as part of the HR Operations team based in Bridgewater, NJ.

Role Overview

The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely administration and processing of the U.S. biweekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees in Workday. This role manages day‑to‑day payroll activities, including pay‑roll processing, time and absence administration, payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, and issue resolution.

The Senior Payroll Analyst partners closely with HR, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, Legal, and managers to ensure employee data, time, pay, deductions, taxes, and other payroll‑related transactions are accurate and compliant. The role also supports SOX controls and continuous improvement of payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process U.S. biweekly payroll and related off‑cycle payments, including bonuses, RSU vesting, equity, benefits, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll transactions.
  • Review and process employee changes including hires, rehires, terminations, compensation changes, and leaves of absence.
  • Run payroll calculations, review results, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage payroll‑related Time and Absence activities in Workday, including timecard exceptions, missing punches, overtime, shift differentials, and leave impacts.
  • Partner with managers, HRBPs, and Benefits to resolve issues that may affect payroll.
  • Manage the payroll inbox and resolve employee and HR inquiries within established service levels.
  • Partner with HR, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve payroll issues and ensure accurate employee data.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and prepare payroll, accounting, benefits, and headcount reports.
  • Execute and maintain SOX controls and supporting documentation for each payroll cycle.
  • Support internal and external payroll audits and provide required documentation.
  • Support federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, including multistate taxation and tax notices.
  • Support year‑end activities, including W‑2 preparation, review, and distribution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 3–5 years of U.S. payroll experience, preferably in a complex or global organization.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on Workday Payroll experience, including Workday Time and Absence.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, reconciliations, taxes, deductions, and compliance.
  • Experience with SOX controls and payroll audits.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, identify issues, and recommend process improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll practices, including federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Hands‑on Workday Payroll, Time, and Absence experience; RSU/equity payroll experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and reconciliation skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
