Graduate Assistant – Office of Transfer Services
The College of Graduate Studies (COGS) coordinates all of BSU’s Graduate Assistantships. This role will support transfer students across the institution.
Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and will receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring, and 6 for summer.
Responsibilities- General one-on-one transfer advising, group advising, advising by telephone, virtual, and advising by email.
- Conducting weekly Degree Works degree audit reviews and assisting students with the appeal process.
- Working closely with the Office of Admissions and faculty to solve application and transfer credit issues on behalf of the student.
- Coordinating and assisting in the development and implementation of articulation agreements with community colleges and academic departments.
- Assisting in the mentorship and oversight of Transfer Student Ambassadors.
- Conducting light research and data collection as needed, such as looking at best practices at other institutions.
- Managing social media and student announcements.
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of events and programs aimed at supporting the transitional needs of current and prospective transfers.
- Other duties as requested by the Director of Transfer Services.
- Understanding of Bridgewater’s education principles, policies, and procedures is required.
- Sensitivity to student concerns and issues, as well as flexibility, patience, and professional integrity.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with constituencies on and off campus.
- Strong writing, communication, and attention to detail.
- Genuine dedication to social/racial equity.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Typing.
