The Student Writer will develop engaging stories that highlight members of the university community and their accomplishments. The student will conduct interviews, research background information, and write two articles (300–500 words each) for publication in the annual IT Outcomes report. This publication showcases key projects, initiatives, and accomplishments of Bridgewater State University’s Information Technology Division. This short‑term assignment is ideal for a student who enjoys writing, interviewing professionals, and translating technical or project‑related information into compelling stories for a broad audience.
The Student Writer will work independently while receiving guidance and editorial feedback from the project supervisor.
- Conduct two interviews with members of the BSU community.
- Research background information related to featured projects or initiatives.
- Write two articles of approximately 300–500 words each.
- Revise articles based on feedback and ensure accuracy of information and quotations.
- Provide brief weekly progress updates and maintain records of work completed.
- Cooperate with key stakeholders to review and revise interviews and story submissions as appropriate and submit by deadline.
- Work on a temporary project‑based role with flexible hours.
Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience writing articles, newsletters, and/or feature‑style stories.
- Strong interviewing and communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible, engaging content.
- Attention to detail and proofreading abilities.
- Comfortable working independently.
