Department Summary:
The Department of Sociology at Bridgewater State University cultivates students’ sociological imagination and critical thinking skills. Graduates gain the ability to analyze diverse societal issues and apply qualitative and quantitative research methods to propose solutions.
Teaching Responsibilities:
Teachers will instruct undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, and Global Social Problems. Responsibilities include preparing lecture materials, designing assessments, providing timely feedback, and participating in departmental meetings and professional development.
Eligibility:
Candidates must have an MA in Sociology or a related field. If the degree is outside Sociology, a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Sociology is required. Candidates must be able to teach in‑person, on campus, and demonstrate sensitivity to students from diverse backgrounds. Minimum of three professional reference entries, a resume/CV, and a teaching statement are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior university‑level teaching experience.
Compensation:
The current salary for a 3‑credit lecture course is $4,005.00, paid bi‑weekly through direct deposit. Positions are part‑time, day‑program, and non‑benefited.
