Essential Duties
- The School of Social Work at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with graduate students. We seek part-time instructors to teach along with full time faculty and field staff in our Saturday MSW (Master of Social Work) program option. This option allows students who work to attend classes on Saturday in a three-year part-time program.
Each cohort of about 20 students goes through the MSW program in three years, part-time together in each class. Internships typically take place during daytime and weekday hours. Classes are held on Saturdays between 8:30 and 4 PM, and the program is hybrid, so presence on campus is not required every Saturday. This is not an online program. Students in this program tend to be self-starters and many have prior work experience.
Successful candidates will be staff members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community. Candidates must: demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. Utilize an equity-minded framework to prepare lesson plans that incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourage student success to all students regardless of race. Specific course offerings include:
Teaching up to 11 credits per semester as assigned by the School of Social Work chairperson.
1. A master's degree in social work or a related field
2. At least 2 yrs post MSW experience
3. Ability to use technology effectively in online and in-person teaching, and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
