BCoSM - Health Professions Coordinator

The Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics (BCoSM) champions the academic and life endeavors of all students, promotes our community of teacher-scholars, and works to improve our region and world. The Health Professions Coordinator works with, advises, and assists students seeking admission to health professions graduate programs. They Chair the Health Professions Advising Committee to submit aggregate letters of recommendation and engage in other activities that create a rich academic environment for students interested in health professions. This is a part-time, non-benefitted, temporary position.

Essential duties include serving as an advisor for students interested in enrolling in health professions graduate programs, developing a flexible schedule to meet with advisees, identifying experiential opportunities within the health professions, working with advisees to complete and submit application materials, developing a working knowledge of the variety of career options within the health professions, serving as a liaison to institutions with MOUs for health professions academic pathways, planning and supporting visits from health professions graduate programs, chairing the Health Professions Advising Committee, updating and revising the current Health Careers for BSU Students website, and advising year-round with the busiest times during the fall and spring semesters.

Required qualifications include a master's degree in a health-related field, counseling/guidance, and/or student personnel, 1-3 years of related experience, especially in the areas of academic advising, college teaching, and/or delivery of academic support services, excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of technology in the delivery of advising services, experience using social media and website design to effectively communicate with diverse student populations, understanding of higher education principles, practices, and procedures, and demonstrated experience with sensitivity to human concerns, flexibility, patience, professional integrity and a concern for student needs in a demanding academic context.
