Transfer Student Ambassador
Position Description
Transfer Student Ambassadors will work 7-10 hours per week. Ambassadors will serve as peer-mentors and provide support to current, transitioning, and prospective BSU transfer students and their families. Student Ambassadors will host programs on BSU’s campus, give campus tours, walk students to other campus resources when needed, and assist Transfer Services with events hosted virtually or on campus, offering unique peer to peer connections.
The primary objective of each student ambassador is to provide guidance and help students with their overall transition to the BSU community, with an emphasis on taking advantage of student engagement opportunities.
- Serve as a peer-mentor for current and prospective transfer students
- Serve as a resource for new and prospective students with questions or problems related to the transfer and transfer admission process
- Provide students with information about University programs, services, and involvement opportunities
- Plan, advertise, implement, and participate in one student social event
- The event should be focused on getting involved and learning more about the BSU campus
- Log event attendance, challenges, and successes to discuss with supervisor
- Submit semester reports detailing and reflecting on activities, successes, and challenges
- Escort visiting students and their families around campus and provide campus tours as needed
- Assist in Transfer Services Office tabling and programming, Transfer Tuesday’s, Ask a BSU Transfer Advisor, CC2
BSU visits, and other Community College events - Communicate with your assigned students via multiple methods including emails, mailings, flyers, social media sharing timely updates/reminders and providing guidance
- Make phone calls to check-in with students
- Assist with social media and event posting
- Work with other offices to develop materials to provide to newly admitted and prospective transfer students.
- Maintain a log of student concerns and issues (to be reviewed with supervisor to assist in resolving issues)
Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
Preferred Qualifications- Responsible and dependable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Motivated, self‑starter
- Good Judicial standing as determined by the Office of Community Standards
- Current undergraduate enrolled student
- Previously enrolled for at least one semester at Bridgewater State
- Former transfer students preferred
- Knowledge of campus resources and how to get involved
Some early morning and evening event participation.
