Graduate Access Fellow (GAF) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring, and 3 for summer.
Position OverviewThis Graduate Access Fellow is a new role within the Graduate Fellowship Program, designed to provide academic support to graduate students with diverse learning and access needs. The Fellow will help peers organize and prioritize academic tasks, clarify course concepts, and connect students to resources.
Duties- Support students in organizing and prioritizing academic tasks.
- Communicate regularly with students receiving support to understand their evolving academic needs and preferences.
- Help students navigate and use assistive technologies or tools.
- Attend the mandatory Graduate Fellowship Orientation in September.
- Attend mandatory monthly group meetings and occasional trainings with Student Accessibility Services.
- Participate in the spring Student Arts and Research Symposium, a requirement of all graduate assistants and fellows.
- Track hours and services provided, and complete brief reports as needed.
- Be enrolled in at least 6 graduate credits each fall and spring semester.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations in one-on-one and group settings, both in person and virtually.
- Willingness to work closely with other Graduate Fellows, faculty, and staff to contribute to a supportive academic community.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and keen interpersonal, social, and organizational skills.
- Has a commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusion.
- Experience working with a diverse student population.
- Patience and empathy when working one-on-one with peers.
