Position Information
Title:
Graduate Assistant
- Residence Life and Housing, Residential Engagement
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Residential Engagement and Programming- Support the coordination and implementation of Living Learning Communities (LLCs) in collaboration with professional staff and campus partners
- Assist with the delivery and assessment of the residential curriculum, ensuring engagement initiatives align with departmental learning outcomes
- Plan, implement, and assess residential engagement programs aligned with departmental learning outcomes and student needs.
- Support evening and weekend residential programming
- Assist with outreach and communication efforts to promote residential engagement opportunities to students
- Support student leadership organizations including the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH).
- Assist with leadership development, recruitment, recognition, and transition planning for residential student leaders.
- Provide functional supervision and mentorship to student Program Assistants supporting residential engagement, leadership, and programming initiatives.
- Provide ongoing feedback, training support, and performance guidance to assigned student staff.
- Collaborate with Resident Assistants to support and enhance engagement initiatives within their communities, providing guidance, resources, and feedback.
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of student leaders and staff related to engagement initiatives.
- Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions as determined by Residence Life and Housing and/or the Division of Student Life.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Ability to attend and support programming, meetings and events that occur during evening hours and on the weekend.
- Ability to use and learn computer programs.
- Ability to communicate in written and oral forms.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- Applicants must be accepted into one of the University’s graduate programs to be eligible to receive a graduate assistant position. Preference will be given to students who have applied to and have been accepted into the Counselor Education – Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration program by the College of Graduate Studies Final date to receive applications.
- Ability to attend and support programming, meetings and events that occur during evening hours and on the weekend.
- Paraprofessional University residence hall administration and programming experience preferred
- Ability to use and learn computer programs.
- Ability to communicate in written and oral forms.
