Staff Assistant – Coordinator of Advising, Enrollment, and Student Success

Mandate to meet the University’s enrollment, student success, and retention goals through academic advising, enrollment support, success coaching, coordination of part‑time advisors, and event planning. Must promote access, equity, and community engagement.

Location:

Bridgewater, MA (on campus). Hybrid work schedule is available in accordance with BSU’s remote work policy.

Standard

Schedule:

Monday through Fridays, 9am-5pm.

APAn union mandate. Not eligible for H‑1B sponsorship. Employment contingent upon successful background check.

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic advising to degree‑seeking and non‑degree students.
  • Coordinate assignment of advisees to part‑time academic advisors.
  • Provide success coaching to degree‑seeking students.
  • Provide enrollment assistance.
  • Develop and implement advising and student‑success initiatives.
  • Organize career and graduate studies informational events.
  • Assist with student problem resolutions.
  • Attend College of Continuing Studies and University events as assigned.
  • Act as a liaison to offices within the Division of Student Success and Diversity (Veteran’s Services, Legacy, Pride Center) and to offices within the Division of Student Life (Commuter Services, Student Professional Development), as well as Career Services.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and commitment to access, equity, and inclusion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year professional experience or equivalent related experiences in enrollment, retention, student involvement, or student services.
  • Effective communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to issues of access, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work with a diverse community and exercise patience with learning challenges related to technology.
  • Strong organizational, detail‑oriented, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Experience designing programming and events.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of serving post‑traditional students.
  • Willingness to perform some evening and weekend work, including local travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bi‑lingual or multi‑lingual proficiency.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of public higher education.
  • Knowledge of University programs and culture.
  • Experience with all facets of Continuing Studies programming, including degree, non‑degree, and non‑credit learning opportunities.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility.

Salary Range: $57,000–$61,000.
