Engineer-in-Training​/Designer - Structural

Howard Stein Hudson (HSH) is a leading engineering and planning firm in Massachusetts with offices in Boston, Bridgewater, Chelmsford, and Worcester. We work on high‑profile, complex projects across New England.

• Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final design of new bridges
• Perform assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges
• Prepare bridge plans, write project technical specifications and reports, perform design calculations, and provide construction phase services
• Perform primary or independent bridge quantity/cost take‑offs
• Perform quality control (QC) of project documents
• Assist on bridge projects from a technical perspective and coordinate with other disciplines and subconsultants as needed
• Conduct field visits to project sites as required

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required)
• 2+ years of bridge design experience; recent or upcoming graduates considered
• E.I.T. preferred
• Ability to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Critical thinking and problem‑solving ability
• Project management experience a plus
• Familiarity with the MassDOT Bridge Manual a plus

Salary range: $76,000–92,000 (base pay; additional compensation may be provided).

The salary range displayed is a good‑faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The salary offered will be determined based on experience, skills, education, and market conditions. The range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
