SummaryMedical Assistant is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision and goals of PM Pediatrics. This role offers the opportunity to work as a pediatric medical assistant, applying skills in a pediatric urgent care setting and assisting with primary patient care within scope of practice under physician’s direct supervision.
Job Responsibilities- Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients and office operations
- Greet and register patients as they arrive
- Obtain medical history, patient vital signs and intake
- Prepare patients for X‑rays
- Perform and document routine labs, such as throat and urine cultures (venipuncture experience preferred)
- Irrigate and assist with wounds
- Assist in performing quality control testing in the lab
- Assist with patient care within scope of practice and be an integral part of the patient care team
- Keep exam rooms and front reception stocked with adequate supplies and maintain order and cleanliness of the waiting area
- Practice standard safety practices and precautions
- Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies and notifying medical team (nurse, urgent care tech, physician)
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; report needed changes to management
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential
- Enhance health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for new requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Assist patients with complaints and take an active role in service recovery when needed
- Perform other duties as needed, including applying splints and assisting the nurse and/or provider in other medical procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience and/or education as a Medical Assistant
- Knowledge or EKG placement and processing in children
- Ability to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab and venipuncture
- Demonstrate a professional and friendly demeanor
- Strong communications and organizational skills
- Prior pediatric experience
- Capable of multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable with computers and Microsoft Office Suite
- Willing to learn medical software
- Experience with medical records preferred
$18 - $26/hour. Salary range is provided to comply with local regulations and reflects a potential base salary for the role. Actual salaries may vary within this range based on experience and location.
