Position Summary:
Full time salaried position
Onsite based out of our Bridgewater, NJ location
The Assistant General Counsel, Employment, Labor & Benefits will be responsible for providing advice and counsel as to employment-, labor-and benefits-related issues in a global company, at all levels and across all business units, including corporate, field-based and operations/manufacturing, as well as responding to agency claims and enforcement actions and supporting internal employment-related investigations. In addition, the Assistant General Counsel, Employment, Labor & Benefits will support the continuous development of in-house policies, processes and procedures for the human resources function, including the handling and defending of employment-related litigation and risk assessments.
The Role:
Provide legal counsel and partner with internal clients to create proactive strategies designed to avoid or minimize exposure to legal liability
Help internal clients understand the risks and consequences of a given situation to assist them in making informed decisions
Effectively communicate potential consequences and assist the development of alternatives to manage identified risks
Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents or templates, present clear recommendations and ensure legal compliance as it relates to applicable areas of law
Provide guidance to HR and select compliance investigations to ensure proper management, investigation and resolution in compliance with applicable law and internal procedures
Manage and supervise the Company’s position before governmental agencies, courts and tribunals with respect to applicable areas of law
Support the HR team with hiring, discipline and termination decisions, executive compensation, organization redesign and restructuring, and, where necessary, reductions in force
Manage and support negotiations of collective bargaining agreements and counsel managers regarding interpretation and application of such agreements, as well as the intent, application, and compliance requirements of other related labor and regulatory laws
Other duties as assigned
Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school, required; be either admitted to the NJ bar or be eligible to be licensed to practice in-house in NJ once becoming a Catalent employee
Minimum of seven years of employment and labor experience working in a large
law firm, government agency or corporate law department;
Prior in-house experience is a plus, international employment law experience, also a plusCandidates should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant US labor and employment laws, including the National Labor Relations Act, ADA, FMLA, Title VII Civil Rights Act, OSHA, ADEA, FLSA, WARN, OFCCP regulations, as well as an awareness of how employment and personnel laws differ outside the US
Candidates should be familiar with the collective bargaining
process, contract negotiations, grievance handling and resolution and labor & management relationships;
Benefits experience, a plusIndividual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds
New Jersey Posting
The anticipated salary range for this position in New Jersey is $183,000 - $252,000, plus bonus, when eligible.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
