The Senior Data Engineer & Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable data engineering solutions that enable trusted, governed, and analytics-ready data across Met Life's Data & Analytics organization.
This role serves as a senior individual contributor responsible for partnering with business and technology stakeholders to build data solutions, implement modern data engineering practices, and support enterprise data initiatives. The position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and experience delivering complex data engineering solutions using cloud-based platforms and modern data technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Architect, design, and build scalable Databricks-based ETL/ELT pipelines and analytics-ready data products across Azure cloud and on-premises environments, partnering with Data Modeling, Data Governance, and Data Architecture teams to apply enterprise design standards such as medallion architecture and dimensional/star-schema modeling
- Partner with business stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Operations, and Technology to translate strategic priorities into scalable data and analytics solutions, contributing to enterprise Data & Analytics strategy and domain-driven data products
- Contribute to end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-domain data initiatives using Agile/SAFe practices (PI planning, sprint execution), applying best practices for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, performance tuning, and migration from legacy pipelines to modern platforms
- Design, build, and estimate solutions independently; monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot production pipelines to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and compliance; and present solution designs and insights to stakeholders in clear, business-focused narratives
- Collaborate with D&A team and cross-functional partners to share technical expertise, apply engineering best practices, and support a culture of continuous learning and innovation across enterprise data domains
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data integration, or related technical disciplines.
- ETL/ELT pipelines and data solutions using SQL and Python, Scala, or similar programming languages.
- Experience working with Databricks and cloud-based data technologies.
- Experience supporting end-to-end delivery of data engineering initiatives from requirements through implementation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Event Hub, or similar cloud-native data technologies.
- Experience with Spark, Delta Lake, or distributed data processing technologies.
- Experience with Git, Azure Dev Ops, CI/CD pipelines, and agile delivery practices.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and metadata management practices.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, or another regulated industry.
- Experience with dimensional data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and analytics-ready data structures.
Location Expectation:
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $121,000 - $155,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
