Graduate Assistant - CSE Marketing and Graphic Design
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
OverviewThe Center for Student Engagement is seeking a full time Graduate Assistant to support the creation and management of marketing content, including the design of graphics and marketing materials, photography, and media. This position supports the College of Graduate Studies by providing graduate students with relevant work experience critical to their post‑graduate careers, such as project management, collaboration, supervisory experience with student employees, and key staff roles in a student‑centered environment.
The Graduate Assistant will also contribute to the retention of undergraduate students by interacting directly with students and supporting campus-wide marketing initiatives.
- Assist in the supervision of the student marketing team, including recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and day‑to‑day supervision of projects, work logs, and marketing campaign management.
- Coordinate a departmental marketing calendar, including digital posting schedules and tangible content distribution across campus marketing locations.
- Create and update content messages for departmental communication platforms and programming.
- Seek out specific campus partner communications regarding events, programs, and services to include in the marketing calendar.
- Maintain an archive of departmental and campus‑related photos and media.
- Update and maintain a department brand guide for all content creation, print, and media presence.
- Assist with the development and implementation of outreach strategies targeting new and returning families of BSU students and special student populations, including communication plans that promote awareness of programs, events, and resources.
- Educate and enforce university/CSE policies and procedures for student organization leaders.
- Provide day‑of‑event support for events such as The Crimson Experience, Homecoming, Admitted Student Days, and other programs throughout the academic year, including nights and weekends, when not conflicting with class schedules.
- Serve as a role model for students.
- Carry out other programmatic duties and special projects as they arise to further the mission of the department.
- Ability to advise student leaders/groups.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability and ability to work in a changing environment.
- Ability to interact well with the diverse Bridgewater State University community.
- Previous involvement with student organizations, orientation programs, or event planning in a college setting.
- Previous experience with an online student organization management platform (Campus Groups, Campus Labs, etc.).
- Experience in leading, advising, and/or supervising students.
- Enrollment in the Higher Education Counseling Master’s Program.
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
