The Director, External Communications, Met Life Investment Management (MIM) is responsible for advancing the external reputation of Met Life's institutional asset management business through strategic communications, media relations, executive visibility, and thought leadership initiatives.

Working closely with senior investment leaders and communications partners across the enterprise, you will transform complex market insights into compelling narratives that elevate MIM's brand, strengthen credibility, and increase visibility in a highly competitive marketplace.

A top candidate will be commutable to Met Life's 200 Park Ave, New York office in a hybrid presence.

• Support the execution of external communications and media relations strategies that strengthen Met Life Investment Management's reputation among target audiences.
• Develop compelling narratives, thought leadership content, executive messaging, media materials, and digital communications that showcase MIM's investment expertise and strategic priorities.
• Partner with senior leaders, investment teams, research professionals, distribution teams, and marketing partners to identify and amplify timely storytelling opportunities aligned with business objectives.
• Manage proactive and reactive media engagement, including spokesperson preparation, issues management support, and response strategies for reputationally sensitive matters.
• Coordinate measurement and reporting activities to evaluate communications effectiveness and identify opportunities to increase visibility, engagement, and impact.

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in external communications, public relations, media relations, or corporate communications, preferably within asset management, investments, or financial services.
• Experience developing and executing external communications and media relations programs that support business objectives and strengthen organizational reputation.
• Strong relationships with financial, business, and trade media, with experience securing coverage and managing media engagement opportunities.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, including experience creating press releases, executive messaging, bylined content, talking points, Q&As, social media posts, and other external communications materials.
• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to communicate complex investment, economic, and business topics to external audiences.
