Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will support the Quality Department by assisting with all quality-related activities, including the creation and maintenance of quality documentation, verification of product quality at vendor facilities and project sites, and the development and implementation of quality assurance programs. This position will also support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and client quality standards.

The Quality Engineer will report directly to the client's QA/QC Director.

• Review and verify vendor quality documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable industry codes, including AWS D1.1, ASME Sections II, V, VIII & IX, B31.1, B31.3, AISC, ASNT, API, and NACE.
• Develop, implement, and maintain inspection and testing procedures.
• Create and execute quality control plans.
• Collaborate with suppliers, clients, and internal teams to ensure quality requirements are achieved.
• Document inspection results and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
• Lead root cause investigations and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Analyze quality metrics and report findings to management.
• Review engineering codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure quality requirements are incorporated into product development.
• Conduct vendor audits to verify compliance with client and project quality standards.
• Communicate quality-related information to internal departments, vendors, and clients.
• Perform quality inspections and surveillance activities, including welding, bolting, dimensional verification, equipment installation and alignment, preservation, storage, structural steel erection, painting inspections, and project completion verification.
• Prepare QA/QC inspection reports for welding, bolting, mechanical equipment installation, trial assemblies, and other inspection activities.
• Organize quality meetings with project teams, vendors, and clients, and prepare meeting minutes (MOM).
• Manage and verify implementation of quality control programs.
• Maintain commissioning and preservation documentation.
• Update quality databases, logs, non-conformance reports (NCRs), overage/shortage & damage (OS&D) reports, and other quality records.
• Maintain calibration records, inspection schedules, and related quality documentation.
• Review or compile Manufacturing Data Record (MDR) books for project closeout.
• Become proficient in company quality assurance procedures and responsibilities.
• Manage the internal vendor inspection schedule.
• Coordinate inspection activities with clients, purchasing, expediting, logistics, and project teams.
• Expand and maintain the third-party inspection service database.
• Provide technical guidance and training to team members on quality assurance and quality control practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the QA/QC Director.

• Strong knowledge of quality control standards, methodologies, and industry best practices.
• AWS D1.1 and/or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred but not required.
• NACE Level II or III certification preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, email, PDF software, and document management systems (such as Adept).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of identifying and resolving quality concerns before they become issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience performing dimensional inspections.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the quality discipline.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical discipline.
• Two to five years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or a related technical field is preferred but not required.

• Approximately 20% travel.
