We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious student to join our team for summer 2027! As the Customer Innovation Technical Service Intern , you will support new product development and creating customer valued solutions within the Savory category including sauces and dressing applications. You will be responsible for developing/preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a lab bench top scale utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices.
You will perform research related duties as needed or assigned, execute on analytical testing, gather insights, as well as document and prepare technical reports with guidance from manager.
- Conduct searches on current technology including competitive activity on related projects, and summarizing the outcomes in appropriate report.
- Develop food formulations and prototypes on lab scale and conduct team tastings to gather feedback and determine next steps and/or iterations.
- Conduct analysis on prototypes using various analytical tools and interpret results.
- Coordinate, summarize and report data generated from these experiments.
- Present results and conclusions to management with recommendations at completion of internship period.
- Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, biochemistry, Food or Chemical Engineering or related field with laboratory research experience
- Must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment
- Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term
- Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day
- Knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports
- Proven ability to deliver under agreed upon deadlines
- Creative problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers and others
- Solid teamwork skills and creative problem solving
- Desire to see and create results
- Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Ingredion does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as OPT or CPT.
- Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor's degree program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
