Salesforce Commerce Cloud SME – Licensing & Consumption Optimization

Role SummaryWe are seeking a Salesforce Commerce Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) with specialized expertise in Salesforce Licensing, Entitlements, and Consumption Models
.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between technical architecture, platform usage, and commercial licensing strategy. You will analyze our current Salesforce Commerce Cloud footprint (B2C/B2B/Order Management), optimize credit/GMV/API consumption models, and design licensing strategies that ensure cost efficiency, scalability, and compliance during growth and peak traffic events.
Key Responsibilities:Strong experience in Licensing and and consumption optimization.
- Audit and evaluate Salesforce Commerce Cloud contract structures, including Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) tiers, transaction fees, order volumes, and API/credit consumption models.
- Establish tracking systems to monitor real-time consumption against contract entitlements to prevent overage charges or true-up surprises.
- Identify underutilized licenses, redundant add-ons, and inefficient usage patterns across B2C/B2B Commerce and Order Management to minimize overall TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
- Partner with IT Procurement and Legal during Salesforce renewal cycles, contract negotiations, and contract true-ups.
- Partner with solution architects and engineering leads to ensure that custom code, job execution, and third-party integrations do not trigger unnecessary consumption spikes.
- Translate business expansion plans (e.g., new storefront launches, international expansion, high-volume promotional events) into accurate licensing and credit requirement forecasts.
- Establish technical guardrails for API calls, data storage limits, and third-party connector usages tied to consumption tiers.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in the Salesforce ecosystem with a heavy focus on Salesforce Commerce Cloud (B2C / B2B).
- Deep, proven understanding of Salesforce licensing structures, contract terms, order forms, and consumption metrics (GMV, order volume, credit models, API limits).
- Demonstrated experience working alongside Procurement, Finance, and Enterprise IT teams to audit, optimize, and negotiate Salesforce contracts.
- Strong experience in Licensing and and consumption optimization.
- Familiarity with SFCC architecture (SFRA, Headless/Composable Commerce, Page Designer, Agentforce/Commerce AI) to understand how technical implementation impacts commercial consumption.
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud Architect / Developer or Salesforce Accredited B2C/B2B Commerce Specialist.
