Position Title

Graduate Assistant - MSW Program

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring, and 6 for summer.

• Support the Houston Bruns Speaker Series
• Communicate related to SSW activities
• Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Conduct research and surveys on internal programs or speaker series feedback
• Assist with preparation of materials for faculty and staff, as needed
• Work with data, statistics, and continuing education certificates
• Develop a research project related to the School of Social Work for the student fair

• Form a solid evaluation plan to gain feedback on events.
• Connect and tend to details required for external events.
• Take leadership and responsibility for outcomes.
• Think creatively about goals and plan for achieving those within the scope of the GA’s work.
• Create research questions designed to facilitate better program outcomes.
• Understand basic research methods.
• Create evaluations using software such as Microsoft Forms and/or Qualtrics.

• Opportunity to learn or use webinar and Zoom meeting skills, interact with others in the social work community, and use strong interpersonal skills to assist with troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Reports to the Coordinator and DCGE Chair of the MSW program.

• No specific physical demands for this position other than possible light lifting and use of computer for producing Word documents.
