Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable Valve Lead to support the correct identification, selection, installation, testing and maintenance of valves used within pipe installation systems on Hinkley Point

C.

This role will be based at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis and will support the Area and Building Leads, Construction Engineers and Engineering Manager in the day-to-day planning and delivery of valve installation activities. Working closely with pipework, mechanical and planning teams both on site and at MLC1, you will ensure valve installation activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with the pipework installation programme, project requirements and relevant industry standards.

Deliverables / Accountabilities
  • Support the identification and selection of appropriate valve types for pipework and mechanical systems, including ball, gate, globe, butterfly and control valves.
  • Support the Area and Building Leads and Construction Engineers with day-to-day construction planning, engineering and works progression.
  • Utilise the 16

    WLA to ensure material deliveries are understood and all required documentation is in place to support planned installation activities.
  • Take accountability to the Engineering Manager for the delivery of valve installation activities in line with the pipework installation programme.
  • Engage with pre-construction and constructability activities, collaborating with discipline and Building Engineers to facilitate efficient sequencing of valve installation.
  • Ensure valve installation activities remain aligned with the agreed pipework installation schedule and programme.
  • Prepare and collate technical datasheets, drawings and supporting documentation required for valve installation activities.
  • Oversee the installation of valves within piping systems, ensuring correct alignment, fit and operational readiness.
  • Support commissioning, pressure testing and associated testing activities.
  • Inspect and diagnose valve faults, leaks, failures and installation issues, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are identified and implemented.
  • Plan and support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for valve systems.
  • Recommend appropriate repairs, replacements or upgrades where required.
  • Ensure valve selection, installation and maintenance activities comply with applicable industry codes and standards, including API, ASME, ISO and BS requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental performance throughout valve installation and associated activities.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports and project documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical and planning teams across the site and MLC1 to ensure effective coordination and delivery.
  • Support the identification and resolution of technical issues that could impact the pipework installation programme.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in valve installation processes, sequencing and ways of working.
Key Requirements / Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant construction discipline; or
  • 10 years' experience in a site construction management role.
  • Proven experience in valve engineering, piping systems or process industry environments.
  • Strong knowledge of valve types, materials and actuation systems.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of CDM Regulations.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport or MAPS.
  • Capable of obtaining BPSS or higher security clearance.
  • Proven experience in safely delivering large-scale construction or engineering projects, including experience working at a management level of authority.
  • Experience with in the heavy industry or nuclear sectors is beneficial.
  • Experience working within Joint Venture environments is advantageous.
  • Strong technical understanding of valve installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary site and engineering teams.
