Writing Tutor - USU Brigham Region

Overview

This position also includes community outreach: tutors will work with community groups at the Brigham City campus on collaborative writing projects (e.g., grant applications and oral histories) and coordinate with faculty members on recruitment initiatives at local high schools, which may include classroom visits and presentations.

• Write Center tutors work one‑on‑one with students across the disciplines on various aspects of writing projects from brainstorming to composing to editing and documenting sources.
• Assist students from a variety of backgrounds and levels of writing proficiency.
• Conduct in‑person and Zoom consultations at the Brigham City Writing Center.
• Be available to help campus students with in‑class writing and research assignments.
• Support students in the region and throughout the statewide system.

• Excellent writers with an understanding of the writing process and a strong foundation of grammatical and documentation skills.
• Welcoming, excellent communication skills and patience.
• Ability to work independently with little oversight.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and desktop computing.
• Strong, proven background in English and/or experience with ESL in any capacity will be preferred.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

$13/hr.
