Shift Mechanics-3 Maintenance Technician

Core ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair. Key duties include:
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment such as injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
- Repair facilities and auxiliary equipment including chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, other water filtration equipment and perform general maintenance of the plant.
- Work directly with machine Operators, Supervisors, Preventative Maintenance Mechanics and Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve mechanical issues during shift.
- Propose solutions to complex and recurring problems on production equipment to Sr. Mechanics and Management.
- Create and report repairs throughout shift, completing required work order paperwork and documenting parts and material usage.
- Maintain industrial control systems and work safely.
- Use schematics, technical drawings and testing equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility equipment.
- Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
- Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.
- May fill in for production operator as needed.
- Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
- 4 Years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
- 4 Years of experience in a similar position.
- 4 Years of experience managing people/projects (or a combination of work experience and education).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
- Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
- Skills with shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools.
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
- Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center.
- Own toolbox and basic tools.
- 6 Years of experience in field or similar manufacturing environment.
- 6 Years of experience in a similar position.
- 6 Years of experience managing people/projects.
- Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
- Familiarity with VFD, servo drives, and servo motors.
- Knowledge of rotary equipment such as rotary press or filler.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
- Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment.
- Experience with HVAC including chillers and/or air compressors.
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
- Fabrication skills such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG or stick).
- Experience with electrical systems including 480
VAC & 24
VDC power. - Repair skills for variable frequency drives, servo motors, PLC input/output cards, safety modules, and communication systems such as ASI‑bus, CAN‑bus, Profi‑bus, Ethernet.
