What Success Looks Like In This Job
The Clerk and Recorder’s Office exists to support and educate our community through prioritizing trust, inclusion, accuracy, and continuous improvement. The Election’s team is looking for a temporary member who has a passion for democracy and ensuring all who are eligible to vote can. The primary duty of this temporary position is assisting with duties in various programs in support of election department operations.
Purposeof the Office of the Clerk and Recorder
The Clerk and Recorder’s Office exists to support and educate our community through prioritizing trust, inclusion, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Registers eligible voters in Adams County
- Processes mail, voter correspondence, notices, and voter registration forms
- Maintains confidentiality of personally identifiable information within protected documents per Colorado statute
- Answers questions and provides assistance regarding voting and voter registration
- Provides outstanding customer service in person, over the phone, and digital communication
- Provides program support to election staff including the election watcher program, election worker placement, Voter Service and Polling Center assistance, ballot processing, and various warehouse tasks
- May be required to drive a county vehicle to drop off election supplies, equipment, and pick up ballots at various locations around the county
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
- Knowledge of data entry and ability to accurately meet data entry standards
- Ability to type and apply basic math and grammar skills
- Ability to easily adapt to a changing work environment
- Knowledge of interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with County staff, elected officials, and the general public
- Understands and consistently demonstrates Adams County Norms and Values
- Ability to learn SCORE and understand additional technology that assists in the election process
- Demonstrates organizational skills
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as copiers, printers, scanners, telephone systems, and Windows-based personal computers
- Ability to use reference and research materials
- Demonstrates professionalism in handling angry or upset individuals on the telephone, in person, or through digital communication
- Ability to work extended hours as needed during the election cycle, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Establishes, maintains, and fosters positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Experience:
- One (1) year of job experience that included general clerical work and customer service experience is required
- Experience in data entry and computer operations is preferred, but not required.
- License or Certificate:
- Ability to become deputized
- Valid driver's license is required
- Reliable transportation is required
- Voter registration:
Must be registered to vote in Colorado
- Background Check:
Must pass a criminal background check
- Ability to stoop, stand, sit for extended periods, and reach overhead and push, pull or handle objects weighing 25 pounds or less
- Work is performed in office, warehouse, and various off‑site locations
- Work atmosphere may be noisy and hectic due to contact with the general public in person and on the telephone
