POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Store Manager supports the daily operations of a high‑volume landscape materials yard, ensuring smooth workflow, strong customer service, and consistent operational standards. This role works closely with the Store Manager to guide sales associates, equipment operators, yard staff, and delivery drivers while helping maintain a safe and efficient work environment. The position includes medical, dental, and vision insurance after 60 days;

employer‑sponsored life and long‑term disability; and a 401(k) match after one year. A clean driving record and pre‑employment screening are required. Proficiency in Spanish would be a plus!

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in retail, supply yards, construction materials, or landscape supply.
  • Experience supporting or supervising equipment operators and/or delivery drivers.
  • Familiarity with POS systems, inventory tracking, and scheduling tools.
  • Experience working in seasonal or high‑volume operational environments.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership & Staff Support
  • Assist with training and developing sales, yard, equipment, and delivery team members.
  • Support coaching efforts and help reinforce performance expectations.
  • Help build and maintain staff schedules; adjust coverage as needed during peak periods.
  • Promote clear communication between departments to support efficient operations.
Operations Support
  • Assist with daily retail and contractor sales operations.
  • Ensure accurate POS transactions and support daily cash reconciliation.
  • Help manage multiple priorities during high‑traffic periods and respond to operational issues.
  • Reinforce safety procedures for equipment operators, drivers, and yard staff.
  • Support yard organization to maintain efficient loading, unloading, and customer flow.
Delivery & Logistics Assistance
  • Help coordinate delivery schedules and dispatching.
  • Support communication between drivers and yard staff to maintain efficient routing.
  • Monitor driver activity for compliance and assist with schedule adjustments.
Financial & Inventory Assistance
  • Assist with accounts receivable follow‑up and customer billing questions.
  • Support accounting with resolving billing discrepancies.
  • Help track inventory levels for bulk materials and verify vendor deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages or discrepancies.
Monthly Reporting Support

Assist the Store Manager with preparing and reviewing:

  • Sales performance summaries
  • Inventory status updates
  • Accounts receivable reports
