Position: Elementary SPED Paraprofessional - 1:1 Support (2025-2026)

Elementary SPED Paraprofessional (1:1 Support)

The Elementary School SPED Paraprofessional will provide assistance with day-to-day classroom routines and procedures under the guidance of a licensed teacher and/or Special Education Teacher. This position works in large and small group settings to support student mastery in all areas of academic content while providing students with a positive learning environment. This position may work directly with a student or students whose programming includes 1:1 academic and behavioral support.

This is a student-dependent position. Employment is contingent upon the enrollment and continued need of student(s) requiring 1:1 support and may end at any time if student(s) enrollment, funding, or programmatic needs change.

This is a non-supervisory position.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, 10-month position. Hourly pay ranges between $18.62 - $25.14 per hour, depending on experience. Essential Functions:

Academic Support:
  • Support student growth and achievement for the development of the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
  • Reinforce learning strategies and skills as modeled by the teacher.
  • Follow and reinforce classroom management and student behavior expectations set by classroom teacher, the student's case manager, the school psychologist, and school social worker.
  • Conduct small group and individual instruction with the guidance and support of classroom teacher.
  • Work directly with a student or students whose programming includes 1:1 academic and behavioral support.
Student Supervision:
  • Assist with supervising students in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, and all other campus spaces as needed
  • Supervise before- and after-school duty assignments.
  • Escort and monitor K-12 students as needed during transitions.
Teacher Support:
  • Work with teachers in designing curriculum.
  • Work with teachers in establishing annual student achievement targets.
  • Provide assistance to the teacher in the instruction of students.
  • Follow lesson plan developed by classroom teacher.
Additionally:
  • Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
  • Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and

Skills:
  • Possess a High School diploma or its equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • Demonstrate subject matter competency by (1) earning an Associate’s degree or higher or (2) completing at least two years (48 credit hours) of study at an institution of higher education or (3) passing the State of Colorado Work Keys teaching assistant exam and providing the school with test results.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate while appreciating the diverse background of students, parents, peers, and the community.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
