School Counselor - Middle School

Quist Middle School, a 27J School located in Thornton, CO, is currently seeking a School Counselor to provide services to students. This is a full-time, or 1.0 FTE, position with benefits.

• Implement the district comprehensive counseling framework
• Provide quality counseling services including academic counseling and emotional counseling
• Counsel, teach and work with a diverse population
• Work with incoming students and teachers around conflict mediation, bullying, peer mentors, and leadership training
• Develop positive, appropriate relationships with parents, staff and students and solve conflicts in a positive way
• Participation in staff development activities, staff meetings, and assigned duties

• Certification/Licensing as a School Counselor as required by Colorado Department of Education
• Master's degree in counseling or psychology
• 3-5 years experience as a high school counselor preferred
• An understanding of standards-based grading
• Knowledge of high school students' interests, needs, and abilities with a commitment and dedication to students and education
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to meet the emotional and academic needs of all students
