Vikan Middle School, a 27J School, is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our team. Vikan Middle School is a traditional middle school with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, restorative practices, and meaningful learning experiences that empower students to think critically, communicate effectively, and grow as learners. Located in the heart of Brighton, we are a vibrant community of learners and leaders guided by our vision: “Empowering our Knights today, to become the learners, leaders, and thinkers of tomorrow.”
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) opportunity for an educator who is passionate about literacy, believes in the power of student voice, and is committed to helping students develop the reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills necessary for success in school and beyond.

AboutThe Role
Develop Strong Readers and Writers
Design and deliver engaging literacy instruction that strengthens students' reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary development, communication, and critical thinking.
Create Meaningful Learning Experiences
Facilitate student-centered learning experiences that encourage inquiry, discussion, collaboration, and authentic engagement with literature and informational texts.
Amplify Student Voice
Build opportunities for students to express themselves, share perspectives, and develop confidence as communicators, thinkers, and creators.
Use Data to Drive Instruction
Monitor student progress, analyze data, and provide targeted support to ensure all students continue to grow and achieve at high levels.
Collaborate for Student Success
Work closely with grade-level teams, interventionists, and support staff to create aligned and responsive learning experiences for students.

Required Qualifications
- A valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License
- Colorado Department of Education “In Field” by CDE endorsement or qualifications to teach the posted subject area
- The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously
- The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team
- The ability and interest to learn continuously and adapt to changing circumstances (student characteristics, curriculum, etc.)
- A belief in empowering all children as owners of their learning
