- Salary: $31,000 – $36,000 per year
- Calendar Year: 200 days
- Candidate must reside in Colorado and possess a valid driver’s license.

Purpose of the JobThe counseling assistant provides support for the counseling department by maintaining records, gathering and processing data for reports, and providing resources for parents and students to develop academic, postsecondary, and social/emotional skills necessary to be a productive member of society. The assistant also provides on‑site direct support to staff and students, oversees student discipline, and fosters positive relationships.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities- Be accountable for students, ourselves, and the team.
- Develop and maintain transparent and honest relationships with students and the team.
- Provide an innovative environment so that students become productive members of society.
The successful candidate must be able to maintain a regular on‑site presence to effectively support students and collaborate with colleagues. Virtual work may be permitted based on specific site needs, but physical presence at designated locations is essential.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide support for the school counseling department.
- Academic: Build transcripts and schedules; maintain student records, academic plans, and transcript progression; advise students based on individual interests and aptitudes.
- Career: Assist in post‑secondary readiness by maintaining up‑to‑date information on military, college, and trade school resources.
- Social/Emotional: Compile resources for students and families and provide assistance in accessing social/emotional supports.
- All Domains:
- Assist counselors in implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.
- Maintain student records by requesting, sending, receiving, filing, and sorting records.
- Assist counselors in collecting evaluative data to link the counseling program to student academic progress.
- Gather information and prepare reports on counseling, programming, and student success.
- Track student contact in MTSS log.
- Maintain knowledge of counseling programs, services, and opportunities to communicate with stakeholders.
- Academic:
- Conduct academic advisement meetings to support successful completion of high school course requirements.
- Utilize data from student ICAP and assessments to create schedules and facilitate schedule changes.
- Maintain a tracking system to ensure ICAP completion.
- Collaborate with departments to develop tools to track student progress and graduation progression; schedule quarterly counseling appointments.
- Gather, maintain, and process transcripts for all students and conduct audits as necessary.
- Identify at‑risk students and track progress toward graduation through transcript audits.
- Participate with regional teams to plan and coordinate graduation ceremonies.
- Career:
- Develop and maintain databases of college, military, and post‑secondary opportunities.
- Assist with concurrent enrollment, workplace learning, and trade school students—including registration, documentation, and progress monitoring.
- Conduct planning and advisement Success Plan meetings to determine each student’s post‑secondary Thrive Path.
- Support career and college enrichment activities.
- Social/Emotional:
- Provide appropriate crisis resources and referrals to counselors, social workers, or outside agencies.
- Assist counselors in maintaining and following up on referrals to school and outside agencies.
- Collaborate with regional social work team to support social/emotional wellbeing.
- Support counselors in identifying students for groups and lessons based on needs.

- Actively recruit new students through community partnerships and events.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time‑management, verbal, and written communication skills.
