Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver, Brighton, CO

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Head High School Volleyball Coach and Athletic Director

Work Hours/Days: This position requires availability generally Monday to Friday in the late afternoons and evenings during the sports season.

Schedule
  • Fall Season (August - November)
  • Practice/game days are held during the school week and on Saturdays as needed.
  • Weekly hours will be approximately 10-20 hours.

Stipend Wage Range: $1,000.00 or higher based on coaching experience

There will be a one-time payout upon completion of the season.

Position Summary

As a highly visible representative of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver, the ideal candidate will embody high character and professionalism, representing our school community with integrity when interacting with various public groups, including leagues, organizations, schools, and media outlets. This position collaborates directly with the Head High School Volleyball Coach while serving at the discretion of the Athletic Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning, preparation, and coaching of all student‑athletes in conjunction with the head coach.
  • Thoroughly understand and apply all rules, principles, and competitive strategies of the sport.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge in the physical and mental training of competitive athletes, integrating strategies that elevate team performance.
  • Create and implement a safe, coherent, and effective training program focused on the physical development of all athletes.
  • Support the program vision process, focusing on building, development, and sustaining long‑term success.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all activity staff, parents, students, media, and visitors.
  • Ensure safety of all team personnel through proper planning and management of policies.
  • Assist with the development of the middle school volleyball program as necessary.
  • Be present at all in‑season and out‑of‑season practices and all games.
  • Attend all CHSAA and league meetings as requested.
  • Assist with set‑up and take‑down of equipment for practices and games.
  • Complete all required training and provide documentation, including official college transcripts, within 90 days of hire date.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, reporting on time and following procedures for absences or tardiness.
  • Show proficiency in written and spoken English for effective job performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Prefer a college degree; requires at least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous high school or middle school cross‑country or track coaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and all‑encompassing team environment.
  • Complete all required coaching training prior to the start of each sport season.
  • Loyalty to the mission and vision of the school and ACACS.
  • Model moral character in line with the school’s core virtues.
  • Adhere to all ACACS policies, including the Athletic Handbook, Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and applicable school and board policies.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse the sports complex, field, or court.
Mandatory Background Checks

In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates must undergo a comprehensive background check, including a review of criminal records. Findings that may disqualify a candidate include:

  • Convictions for violent crimes such as assault or domestic violence.
  • Convictions for offenses against children, including abuse or endangerment.
  • Drug‑related offenses involving distribution or trafficking of controlled substances.
  • Certain felony convictions, depending on nature and recency.
  • Certain misdemeanors that raise concerns about suitability for an educational environment.
Verification of Qualifications

Applicants will be asked to provide verifiable proof for roles that require specific qualifications or certifications (e.g., teaching credentials). Reference checks will also be conducted.

Compensation

Stipend ranging from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00.
