Summary/Objectives
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is a key member of a branch team responsible for, but not limited to, assisting the Branch Manager in overall branch management. The ABM supports efforts to maximize revenue, sales, customer satisfaction, minimize operational losses, ensures compliance of operational and security procedures, deepens existing relationships, and minimizes customer attrition. The ABM also supports the administration and coordination of sales and service activities, promotional campaigns, and product initiatives of their assigned branch.
EssentialFunctions
- Assists the Branch Manager in leading the branch to achieve sales goals through outbound calling, sales meetings, and coaching.
- Supervises designated staff members in their daily performance of assigned tasks, impacting decisions on personnel regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary, transfers, and termination.
- Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Gold Service Standards.
- Performs all functions of SR FSR.
- Opens new deposit accounts and understands the financial services offered by the bank, including features, benefits, rules, regulations, pricing, and basic definitions of each service; handles additional services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits.
- Processes all loan applications within lending authority and paperwork, extending credit to qualified individuals and businesses through various installment, commercial, and real‑estate products; assists in the collection of delinquent loans.
- Manages loan and deposit exceptions within the expectations of South State Bank both individually and for the branch.
- Responsible for the branch’s security procedures and understands the function and operations of security devices, protecting the facility against criminal and fraudulent activity.
- Provides leadership by setting an example for staff; personifies good customer relations and effective selling and cross‑selling in contact with customers; exemplifies expectations of all staff members through actions and attitude.
- May resolve routine personnel problems.
- Assists tellers in accurate balancing of daily work, researching differences, and making necessary adjustments.
- Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, explaining policies and procedures as necessary; treats customer problems and complaints as opportunities to satisfy the customer and promote additional services.
- Is knowledgeable of financial services offered by the bank.
- Knows and ensures compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Ensures an adequate supply of money for daily bank transactions.
- Ensures the branch has adequate inventory of supplies.
- Understands and complies with branch audit procedures, conducting self‑audits using the Branch Internal Control Review quarterly.
- Presents a neat and professional personal appearance and orderly work area.
- Develops and maintains a sales‑culture environment.
- Maintains a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and can discuss and enroll customers in self‑service options.

- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, BA degree and/or 2 years in Banking. - Experience:
Minimum of 3 years as Customer Service/Sales/Branch Manager, strong organizational skills, previous supervisory experience, strong PC skills, previous banking experience, ability to analyze and solve problems. - Knowledge:
