Plant Maintenance

Job Summary

The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant equipment and systems. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Maintenance work includes stationary and mechanical systems such as conveyors, shakers, pumps, and gearboxes, as well as general facility maintenance involving electrical, plumbing, and basic structural systems.

The technician may also perform fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, greasing, housekeeping, and other shop or processing duties to minimize downtime and maintain optimal production performance.

• Perform scheduled maintenance on crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, motors, and other plant equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to prevent breakdowns.
• Maximize performance of stationary equipment by performing repairs and ensuring timely preventive maintenance.
• Ensure backlog processes are completed and prioritized with the supervisor and/or plant manager.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures and production interruptions.
• Assist with cutting, welding, and fabrication tasks for plant components and structural repairs.
• Perform fabrication, erection, and repair of processing and mobile equipment.
• Complete required paperwork to maintain equipment and run the plant according to Martin Marietta standards.
• Adhere to MSHA safety standards and company policies.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections and ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities.
• Prioritize safety, then quality, followed by production.
• Ensure preventive maintenance services and lubrication services are completed according to the Maintenance Module.
• Operate cranes, man-lifts, welding and cutting tools, and other specialty equipment as needed.
• Train and coach other employees on maintenance practices.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment condition.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and operations teams regarding equipment status and repair needs.

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

1+ years of experience related to Heavy‑Duty Maintenance jobs or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in the Aggregates Industry.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for plant maintenance and equipment servicing. Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. Must be able to maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders. Strong hand‑eye‑foot coordination is essential for operating hand/foot controls. Must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.

All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry, and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dB.

The hiring range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00 exclusive of benefits or bonuses. The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience.
