Job Description

Registered Nurse (RN) Labor and Delivery, part‑time, nights.

• Status:
  Part‑time, 24 hours per week
• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Pay: $37.17 – $56.17 per hour, dependent upon experience
• Location:
  
  Platte Valley Hospital, Brighton, Colorado
• Scheduled weekly hours: 24

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN applies the nursing process through the use of technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence‑based practice, and coordination with interdisciplinary team members to deliver high‑quality patient outcomes.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, social, psychological, cognitive, developmental, and communication needs.
• Gather and evaluate information from patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Integrate assessment data to support clinical decision‑making.

• Develop individualized care plans using assessment findings and critical thinking.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and care teams to establish goals and care strategies.
• Identify education needs and prepare patients for ongoing care, including referrals and follow‑up support.

• Coordinate and delegate care across the interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
• Deliver patient care in alignment with care plans, clinical guidelines, and licensure standards.
• Prioritize and manage patient care effectively, including time, supplies, and resources.

• Monitor patient responses to interventions and evaluate progress toward goals.
• Adjust care plans based on clinical outcomes, patient needs, and feedback.
• Ensure patient and family satisfaction through continuous reassessment and communication.

• Promote the nursing profession and support the development of team members.
• Adhere to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
• Practice within scope of licensure and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
• Understand and apply the legal implications of care delivery.

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
• Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (education will be verified).

• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of April 27, 2025.
• Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements in place at the time of their hire or promotion.

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require verbal communication and hearing spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing information, medication preparation, etc.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, including bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment; may involve heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
• For roles requiring driving:
  Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
