Registered Nurse (RN) Labor and Delivery
Location:
Platte Valley Hospital
Status:
Part-time, 24 hours per week
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Pay: $37.17 – $56.17 per hour, dependent upon experience
Role OverviewThe Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN applies the nursing process through the use of technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination with interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
Essential FunctionsAssess
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, social, psychological, cognitive, developmental, and communication needs
- Gather and evaluate information from patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
- Integrate assessment data to support clinical decision-making
Plan
- Develop individualized care plans using assessment findings and critical thinking
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and care teams to establish goals and care strategies
- Identify education needs and prepare patients for ongoing care, including referrals and follow-up support
Implement
- Coordinate and delegate care across the interdisciplinary team as appropriate
- Deliver patient care in alignment with care plans, clinical guidelines, and licensure standards
- Prioritize and manage patient care effectively, including time, supplies, and resources
Evaluate
- Monitor patient responses to interventions and evaluate progress toward goals
- Adjust care plans based on clinical outcomes, patient needs, and feedback
- Ensure patient and family satisfaction through continuous reassessment and communication
Professionalism
- Promote the nursing profession and support the development of team members
- Adhere to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards
- Practice within scope of licensure and maintain accurate, timely documentation
- Understand and apply the legal implications of care delivery
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of hire
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (education will be verified)
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of April 27, 2025
- Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements in place at the time of their hire or promotion

- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
